Covid 19 has always presented unique symptoms post-recovery in many cases with the loss of sense of smell and taste, discolored Covid toe, or a swollen bumpy tongue. The experts have now found a link between the novel infection and erectile dysfunction with several cases reported in journals across Europe, North America, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, and Thailand.

In a recent paper by Dr. Ranjith Ramasamy, director of reproductive urology at the University of Miami’s Desai Sethi Urology Institute stated that after the Covid infection, the risk of erectile dysfunction was increased by 20% with several other researchers reporting a much higher risk percentage. He stated that after the bout of infection when the patients complained about the trouble, they were dismissed as psychological and stress-induced side effects. But over time and complete recovery, they saw a similar pattern in many patients.

Research and analysis of imaging scans and biopsies show that the virus can infect tissues within the male genital tract. However, more research is required to fully comprehend the situation as both psychological and physiological factors play an important role in erection.
